Key Definitions in the New USP Framework

  • Accurate Measurement: Relative uncertainty must be ≤ 0.0010 (0.10%).

  • Test: Applies to inactive ingredients; not assumed accurate unless stated.


Core Parameters for Compliance

  • Repeatability: Most critical for accuracy.

How to Choose the Right Balance

To weigh a 34 mg sample accurately (with 0.10% precision), SD must be:

Choose a balance where SD ≤ 0.017 mg.
